Famous Bliss Quotations
Towards Success and Self Realization

" Follow
your bliss...
and the universe will open doors to you where there were
only walls." Now, I came to this idea of bliss
because in Sanskrit, which is the great spiritual
language of the world, there are three terms that
represent the brink, the jumping-off place to the ocean
of transcendence: sat-chit-ananda. The word "Sat" means
being. "Chit" means consciousness. "Ananda" means
bliss or
rapture. I thought, "I don't know whether my
consciousness is proper consciousness or not; I don't
know whether what I know of my being is my proper being
or not; but I do know where my rapture is. So let me
hang on to rapture, and that will bring me both my
consciousness and my being. I think it worked.
--Joseph Campbell, The Power of Myth
The thought
'I-am-the-body' is the thread
on which are strung together various thoughts.
Questioning within and enquiring, "Who am I ?"
And "Whence this thought ?",
all other thoughts vanish.
And as the true "I," within the heart-cave,
The Self shines of its own accord.
Such Self-awareness is the only Heaven;
This stillness, this abode of
bliss.
-- Sri Ramana Maharshi.

Pleasure is bodily. Happiness is psychological. But
they both remain buds unless the third, the ultimate
in joy happens—Bliss.
That bliss is the one-thousand-petalled lotus: the
highest peak of your consciousness. When that opens,
then all buds bloom." --Osho.
When you
become enlightened, you don't become a new person.
In fact you don't gain anything, you lose
something: you lose your chains, you lose your
bondage, you lose your misery, you go on losing.
Enlightenment is a process of losing. When there is
nothing left to let go of, you enter Nirvana. This
state is utter silence, and can be called
Enlightenment. ~Osho

lift you up to the infinite heights of
bliss and yours
to take me down to the depths of your senses....

of this mortal dimension and stops time in order to
feel the Infinite grace of the Universe. --J. Ram

Devotional
singing induces in you a desire for experiencing the
truth, to glimpse the beauty that is God, to taste the
bliss that
is the Self. It encourages man to dive into himself and
be genuinely his real Self.
--Sri Sathya Sai Baba

Instead of
fulfilling the promise of infinite orgasmic
bliss, sex in the
America of the feminine mystique is becoming a strangely
joyless national compulsion, if not a contemptuous
mockery.--Betty Friedan
A tremendous stream is flowing
toward the ocean, carrying us all along with
it; and though like straws and scraps of paper we may at
times float aimlessly about, in the long run we are sure
to join the Ocean of Life and
Bliss.--Swami
Vivekananda
Pain and
foolishness lead to great
bliss and complete knowledge, for
Eternal Wisdom created nothing under the sun in
vain...The person you consider ignorant and
insignificant is the one who came from God, that he
might learn bliss
from grief and knowledge from gloom. --Kahlil Gibran

All The divine
emotions-love, compassion, courage, self-sacrifice,
humility would be meaningless without joy. Joy means
exhilaration, an expression of the ultimate
Bliss."....Man's

"No joy on earth is equal to the
bliss of being
all taken up with love to
Christ. If I had my choice of all the lives that I
could live, I certainly
would not choose to be an emperor, nor to be a
millionaire, nor to be a
philosopher, for power and wealth and knowledge bring
with them sorrow. But I would choose to have nothing
to do but to love my Lord Jesus-nothing, I mean, but
to do all things for his sake, and out of love to
him." --Charles Spurgeon
Great Goddess, who art Thou?
She replied: I am essentially Brahman.
From Me has proceeded the world comprising Prakriti
and Purusha,
the Void and the Plenum.
I am bliss
and non-bliss.
Knowledge and ignorance are Myself.
I am the five elements and also what is different from
them,
the panchabhutas and tanmatras.
I am the entire world.
I am the Veda as well as what is different from it.
I am unknown; I am born Below and above and around am
I.
--Devibhagavata Purana, translated by Swami Vijnanda
(1923)

The Essential Rumi
by Coleman Barks:
All day I think about it, then at night I say it.
Where did I come from, and what am I supposed to be
doing?
I have no idea.
My soul is from elsewhere, I'm sure of that,
and I intend to end up there.
This drunkenness began in some other tavern.
When I get back around to that place,
I'll be completely sober. Meanwhile,
I'm like a bird from another continent, sitting in
this aviary.
They day is coming when I fly off,
but who is it now in my ear who hears my voice?
Who says words with my mouth?
Who looks out with my eyes? What is the soul?
I cannot stop asking.
If I could taste one sip of an answer,
I could break out of this prison for drunks.
I didn't come here of my own accord, and I can't leave
that way.
Whoever brought me here will have to take me home.
This poetry. I never know what I'm going to say.
I don't plan it.
When I'm outside the saying of it,
I get very quiet and rarely speak at all.
